Welcome to the Mitre
Sunday Best

Sunday in the pub is like a big ol' hug. Bloody Marys, generous roasts (with larger-than-life Yorkie puds) alongside bucket-loads of gravy (well, two jugs full at least) - it doesn't get better than that.

Parties and Events

We have a range of versatile areas to reserve to make your event just that bit extra special. From cosy get-togethers with friends, or intimate celebration dinners with the whole family, we have plenty of spaces in our pub, dining room & tiered terrace.

A pub in the heart of Shaftesbury

Landlord Jonathan and his team welcome you to our much-loved traditional high-street pub nestled in the heart of the picturesque Market town of Shaftesbury, Dorset. Locally famous for our tiered outdoor terrace with stunning views overlooking Melbury Hill and across the Blackmore Vale. Just a stone’s throw away from the famous Gold hill featured in Ridley Scott’s Hovis advert.

You’ll love our pub. The bar is bustling, our pumps are primed with premium local ales, and cool craft-y beers, and we shake up a cracking cocktail too (if we do say so ourselves)

Head Chef Karol cooks up a storm, with his signature dishes, and perfectly cooked pub classics. We’re always making the most of seasonal ingredients, so you’ll be tucking into the freshest asparagus in Spring, the plumpest blackberries in Summer, gorging on game-y goodness in Autumn, and a riot of root veggies in the Winter.

Father’s Day

This Father’s Day, treat Dad to the celebration he deserves at the Mitre.

From our roast beef to a classic fish and chips, or a seasonal special from the board, pair it with a pint of local ale, a crisp spritz in the garden, or something special from our wine list to make it a meal to remember.
